HOW DOES IT WORK?
At the very heart of Takes A Village every Monday, is the London Slings pop-up. Run by Takes a Village founders, and Sling Consultants, Rachel & Katharine, alongside peer supporters Luci, if you need support with a sling, or anything else during your visit, this is where to head o find a friendly face!
London Slings free drop in time is every Monday (except bank holidays) between 12-3pm. Here you can get support to try on, hire or purchase a sling, or get support to use a sling you already own (a £5 fee applies, redeemable against any hire or purchase, if you go on to make one on the day)
When you arrive, sign in at the Takes a Village check in desk on the right after the bar area. Make yourself comfy in the cafe, grab something to eat and drink, and you’ll be seen on a roughly first come first served basis. You will be invited through to the workshop room, and may be grouped with other parents of similar aged babies to be shown sling options. You’ll always be helped to fit your sling (expect to try one or two options maximum) and then will have the opportunity to hire or purchase.
If you would prefer to pre-book an appointment, rather than attend the drop in,London slings also have two bookable slots each monday at 11.45am. Appointments are recommended if you are looking for support learning a new skill such as hip or back carrying, or feeding in a sling. Or you may prefer to book, to avoid waiting at the drop in. Appointments cost £15 and last approximately 30 minutes.
Alternatively, London Slings offer a second pop-up on Fridays at The Florence, in Herne Hill, from 11-1; group workshops on monthly Saturday mornings and Wednesday evenings, and home consultations outside of Takes A Village.
You can find more information about everything London Slings offer, through their main website.
